Asphalt Production
Stark Pavement Corp. operates four asphalt drum mix facilities, where crushed, natural, and recycled aggregates are mixed with asphalt cement to produce the familiar “blacktop” most of us drive over every day. The proportions of these components are largely what determine whether the material is suited for a commercial parking lot or a major interstate highway. These types of mixes are designed in-house by our expert technical staff for their specific application in our state-qualified design laboratory. Once in production at the plant, quality control personnel perform a battery of tests to ensure the material will meet the needs of the intended customer. WisDOT specification mixes are regularly produced at each plant, but commercial and specialty mixes are also provided by request.
Asphalt Terminal
Stark’s Milwaukee facility houses the bulk asphalt storage terminal that supplies each of the four asphalt plants it operates. As an approved product source for WisDOT projects, Stark is able to provide not only standard grades of asphalt, but also more specialized polymer-modified blends for critical applications. Formulations and quality control are performed in-house at our state-of-the-art SuperPave asphalt cement testing laboratory.
Asphalt Paving
When incorporated in 1965, Stark had already been paving asphalt surfaces for a number of years. Moving forward to the present day, our company has completed municipal, industrial, and commercial paving projects, including distribution centers, airports, city streets, and interstate highways, among many other applications. Stark employs a fleet of specialized equipment to perform this work, along with experienced field personnel and quality control staff to ensure our projects meet and exceed our customers’ requirements.
Concrete Paving
Stark Pavement Corp. offers full-service mainline concrete paving for a variety of municipal and commercial clients. Along with our experienced management team, our talented field employees have a variety of certifications to assure the highest quality workmanship. Our concrete operation is also on top of the latest advances and techniques to assure excellent production, long term durability and longer life expectancy. We have the capability to pour with a mainline paver, laser screed, curb & gutter machines, and a finishing machine in order to deliver concrete pavements that last.
Ancillary Concrete
In addition to mainline paving, Stark also provides a diversified set of concrete services to complement both our asphalt and concrete paving divisions. This includes curb & gutter, walkway, cast-in-place walls, colored & stamped concrete, and other items necessary to cover your concrete sitework needs.
Grading
Ensuring a straight and smooth base is critical to having a quality pavement. That’s why Stark Pavement Corp. utilizes a number of grading crews and an extensive fleet of equipment to address a variety of issues before the final surface on a pavement is placed.
Recycled Crushed Base Course
At Stark Pavement Corp.’s Milwaukee facility, our stationary crushing plant produces WisDOT-approved base course from recycled concrete materials. Stark also employs a mobile crushing unit that can be brought on-site to produce high quality base course from existing materials without the need to transport product off-site for processing.
